Far too Long!

So it's been a busy past few months. Between designing classes, meeting the love of my life, computer problems, traveling to meet family and packing...yes PACKING!

Why?
One might ask that question, and simply I will answer it for you.
David asked me to marry him and I said, "YES!!!!". One couldn't find a better man and I can't wait! There are so many reasons why I love him and one of them is that he has a working computer...no I'm not marrying him for his hard-drive. lol Although it will come in handy. Especially on those days that it is a good thing I don't keep a sledgehammer next to my desk or I would have a pile of computer bits next to me! So God willing my presence doesn't strike his comp with sudden death (like it does most technology), come Sept I should have some wonderful posts for you almost daily! Yay!!!! :D

I feel like I am in the best dream ever, so nobody pinch me. Great match for me, getting married and he treats me like the most gorgeous woman on the planet. Nobody wake me up, ok? lol

Oh, yeah and BTW there are no pics for now as I pulled a "momma told me not to as a child, so it's a great idea" moment. It absolutely was not a great idea, and sadly running on slippery rocks caused me to fall and break my camera! :'( I strongly advise listening to your parents (even in adulthood), as it stinks to loose your camera. Especially just before a road trip! *poo*

So, the moral of the story is "listen to your parents" (they're right I figure, around 60% of the time *tee hee*)

This is another advanced copics class called Easter Blessings at Scrapbookers Paradise. We will be focusing on coloring using copics, shading and blending. You will also try a little new Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Stickles, and what girl doesn't like glistening rocks? :) We will also do some heat embossing and stenciling with Spellbinders Nesties. So come have a blast with me playing with your Copic Markers and stamping with some fabulous stamps!

Bowl Full of Cherries

These 2 cards will be a class at Scrapbookers Paradise called "A Bowl Full of Cherries-Advanced Copics" We will be focusing on how to do advanced copic coloring of images with 2-3 colors per image, blending and shading. We will also learn how to color ribbon and pearls with our Copics (Gotta love that, matching embellies everytime)! We will also use Spellbinders as stencils, stamp, and see what glazes are. Did you know that Scrapbookers Paradise carries 2 Brands and 7 different kinds! Wow that's alot of options and I bet you have questions! The good news is we will use 2 of them in the class and I will tell you about the other 5 and answer your questions. :)

What I've Been Up To...

So as you know, my last Scrapbook post was way back at Thanksgiving. So where have I been? Did I fall off the proverbial Scrapbook truck? No way!
My Best friend got married Nov 21st and I moved the week following. Since my classes for next sign up were due before that...I was packing the week of the wedding too. Then It turns out I met the love of my life at her wedding...interesting!

When we met @ the Wedding, a date with friends & Valentines (By the way, I look funny because it was -20 something that day in the Rockies and dusk. Haha)

Now we've been dating since the wedding (officially "technically" Jan 13th), and we had a great Valentines together.

I made Valentine's prezzies for the loves in my life (all 30 of them), helped my Scrap-bud make 20 Valentines to give away (for her kids) and 5 Valentines Cards for the teachers. We also made invites for her daughters birthday party. I'll have to get pics, because they were adorable!:) .
I also was whisked away to Crescent Falls (if you don't already know, it's my absolute favoritist place in the whole wide world). They were gorgeous frozen and sounded so incredible, I didn't want to leave! Now David is taking me to meet his parents this weekend and I'm both nervous with anticipation and stoked! Vancouver Island here we come! :D

Sometimes life is what happens when your making plans...and it's true. So I have not had as much time to scrapbook, but when I have been it's been Scrapwork (work for the store, ie: classes, demo boards or class kits prep). However I had not forgotten about my Blog or Blog-eeps! You were still on my mind. How does one juggle it all? Some of the people I follow blow me away! They have amazing blogs on top of all the wonderful things they do. I must try harder to post!. So here are a couple more sneaky peekies of classes, and tonight I will pull another all nighter to make more!

Still have to:
1. Pack for Van Isle (Shhhh, don't tell David ;) I'll be ready!)
2. Make 4 classes & 1.5 Scrapbook L/O's
3. Paperwork for classes (5 pages x 9 = 45 still to go, why did I just do that!?!)
4. Finish Davids thank you gift for his Mom (6 Cards, 4 garden stakes and 6 gift tags + a card for her)
5. Probably something else, I always forget one thing (hopefully its just to eat and then I will eventually just get hunger pains, otherwise...lol)

Glittery Goodness!

I just finished teaching my first run of Sandscapes Cards, and it was awesome!

Everything was pre-cut and ready to go. I have this new way of organizing class kits for myself now that works so well. Check it out.....Here is how I have them filed ready for classes

This is them full of the kits for the next run of Sandscapes. They have 1 12"x12" pocket and 4 6"x12" pockets. They can hold alot and even have notches around each pocket to tie ribbon your using! If you can get your hands on them, buy 'em!

they're Retrospect Page Managers, and they're a life saver!
They went on sale, and well....lets just say I bought all 10 packs! Heehee :) (3/pack) I use them to keep my personal scrapbooking organized too, because that usually gets interrupted by Scrapwork. So this way I don't loose what I was working on and I still know what I was doing! lol
Almost every page manager is in use now, as I am working on the next class run. Mwahaha, betcha your curious about what I'm working on! Keep reading the post for the sneak peek! :)

Breast Crop Ever!!

This was an amazing crop event..that will now be annual!!! :) With Tiffany's organization, the crop raised over $6,000 for Breast Cancer!
Thanks to Tiff and volunteers who made the event happen. It was amazing! Tons of contests, door prizes, silent auction items, stores and make & takes. We rubbed elbows with survivors and people affected by the illness either directly or indirectly. Your stories encouraged us to continue the fight! Don't miss out next year! Surely we can beat the funds raised this year and surpass all expectations. Together we can make it so that this generation, is the last generation that has to scrapbook the trials, heartache and fight with breast cancer!

For this card I was inspired by the colors BIG time! I just love how dainty and sweet it looks. Then I thought, how cool would it be to use imagery on the front of this card. It is a card for a little girls birthday, who is like a niece to me. She is sweet, and cute as a button. However she is also a princess...a real Princess sometimes too, that knows just how to use that cute as a button smile of hers to get her way! I love her to pieces, and she'll just love this card. I am going to tuck 'The Paper Bag Princess' by:Robert Munch inside for her. Enjoy!!

Here is my card for the three challenges! I really love the fun colors in Taylor's challenge. I would never normally use them!
I was inspired by the cupcakes and colors in the photo, and I used label ones instead of squares for the sketch. Earlier today I had sorted all (well almost) all my scraps and was fortunate to find the Quick Quotes paper scraps! I also paper toled the cupcake and added a cherry on top. Why not a cherry? Yum!!! :p I am so excited to see my friends face when I give her the car Wed for her birthday...yay!!!

Here is my next TE challenge inspired card, for a friend Im thinking of lots lately! I used Karen' Sketch and Jodi' three colors. Together I really like the outcome. Karen' original sketch was a ton of fun, and I really enjoyed making it my own using the labels one dies (a new die set :) Yay!!!) I must also admit that "hooked on Copics, works for me!!" Rain or Shine - TEBB Challenges #4 & #6

Here is my take on these 2 challenges, that I made for a friend who is moving to attend Bible College. We will really miss her here, but know that she is going to do what she loves! She also had to leave behind her little Princess Mya (the Dachshund)...so this MFT stamp set was perfect for her farewell card!I really enjoyed making this card, and thinking of all the fun Gail and I had scrapbooking.

Check out some of the details...like the paper pierced border around the yellow, the diamond glazed raindrops or the sun in behind the darkest clouds! I hope she likes it :) and I hope ya'll do too!

Sketches 2 - Hero Arts Contest Entry

Check out the card I made this past week. Everything is 100% made from scratch using stamps and stamp inks with masking. Copic Markers were used to color the dolls (for color recipes, see my Flckr page by clicking on the slideshow). I made it for the special people I know who are 1 of a Kind around the world. Flourishes: Fit For Royalty

I was super excited to do this Flourishes challenge and couldn't wait!!
My card is taking a step back in time, to an era where only the wealthiest and royalty could partake of the "immortal life giving fruit"- pomegranates! Pomegranates where a sign of status dating back centuries to Greece, Rome and even Israel! Archeologists have seen its image in many places and was linked to one of the most well known of all Queens...Cleopatra. who was said to also color her lips with pomegranate juice!

This is a painting of Cleopatra in her boat on the Nile with Garlands of Pomegranates hanging from the curtains (found at margretshort.typepad.com/.../).

So here is my take on a Royal card, fit for a Queen:

As you can see I used the large pomegranates from Flourishes: Figs & Pomegranates by Marcella Hawley (which is a wonderful stamp set I first saw Laura F. use)
I stamped them in Versafine (on white) and heat embossed with Whispers copper embossing powder, to give it shine and that royal look.
I then used Copic E21-Baby Skin Pink & 0-Blender to make the background have that mottled old world look. I cut it out with my spellbinders oval and rimmed the edges with the Versafine and embossed in the same copper. Then using my Spellbinders Classic Frame and Pinc Chalk-Grey for stenciling I custom made a miny frame for my POMS.Both are pop dotted onto a handmade background, by scoring white cardstock and the same copics! (You woud think with all the paper I have, something would fit my vision. I think the handmade turned out better though!)I stamped and embossed corners on my paper using a Fontwerks stamp set and added Kaiser-pearls in the corners for elegance.The black ribbon is unknown. I made my own pebble charm using the Welcome from the Flourishes-Figs & Pomegranates set, Black Staz-On ink, and Judykins-Clear Shrink Plastic (mounted with Judykins-Diamond Glaze)
Other copics I used are c1-Cool Gray No.1, r29-Lipstick Red, r59-Cardinal, y21-Buttercup Yellow, yg95-Pale Olive, & yr23-Yellow Ochre

What an awesome challenges Flourishes! Thank you for pushing me to grow. Now the only question is...who do I know thats royal enough for this card? lol

Don't you love it when you look at a friends blog; which leads you the company she designs for; which leads you to their contest; to a contest entries blog and then to a new companies website you've never heard of before just to enter a contest, but have fallen in love with?
Why did I fall in love with them? I will tell you why....

You can tell this company cares about their customers. Not just beacuse they are willing to give away so many fabulous things, but how they presented the new CHA product. I knew regular stikles couldnt be quickset, but I had no idea that Tim Holtz & Rangers Distress Stickles can be!! What a wonderful tip, nestled in among the CHA debuts.

So, Simon Says. I love you!! lol I know, I really am easy to please and yet you are one of the few companies able to wow me off the bat. I look forward to more tips from you to improve my craft.

So I suggest to all my friends and followers. Check out Simon Says. Even if your only intentions are to enter their $100 (in new product release) contest, I am sure if you look at more then just the contest (or even if you just read on) you will have found a company that will be there for you.

Worst & Best Rolled Into One!!

Thats right...you read it correctly! I was fortunate enough this morning to wake up with terrible allergies; bad enough that I called into work. I have been dealing with these allergies for over 7 months now. At first I thought they were a cold, however I now have the nasty "A" word...a-l-l-e-r-g-i-e-s!! Yay!!! lol However I worked hard this week to create wonderful things devoid of "xtras". It proved interesting, yet also productive!

So here are the finished products, which are classes for the Fall signup at our LSS:

I love this new Spellbinders set!! It looks so fragile, like a real snowflake.

I really like the simple elegance.

I used Copics to color the deer. They are so wonderful to use and versatile!

Everytime Ive had an opportunity to view blogs, I am floored by Jessi' ability to post regularly to her blog. Although I havent posted for a while, partly because I didnt know what to blog (often my pics are so fuzzy even I dont know what the pic is!! Or I dont know what to say lol) and on top of that my hard drive crashed (alas a friend of mine...Sandra...has rescued me from my hard drive woes. Thank you!!). However, I ran into Jessi in SP yesterday and with my new hard drive/Jessi' inspiration to keep on posting...HERE I AM! Thank you Jessi, for all your encouragement, wisdom, shared ideas and shared laughs. :) Keep up your amazing blogging, I look forward to reading yours again and I hope that one day I can return to you just a part of what you have done for me or pay it forward. For anyone else struggling like me...just keep striving for tommorow!

Here is my room right now while class deadlines are upon me/must keep home spotless for showing at anytime (oh yeah, did I tell you I have to move? lol)....

...preparing for the fall classes at the store. Its midnight....

...My room needs to be cleaned, at the very least by 9 am...

...at least Medium was on. A repeat, but great for background noise/distraction when stressed!

Is'nt Summer Grand!?!

So far there has been a slow start to summer, and keeping up with my blog! lol Ahhh, all the work I have had to do, and now I am going to have a little bit of a break from my independent classes. *sigh* Being all grown up is sure a lot more work then I expected it to be....seeing as how growing up I always figured everyone recieves the summer off every year! lol Isnt that the way it should be? Work all winter+relax all summer=extremely happy people! Since thats never going to happen, I have embraced my creative thinking and I scrapbook for escape. Although I havent been able to scrapbook my own things lately, there are some things I wouldnt trade for the world.
Like making Fanta pop labels for my Best friend when we went dress shopping (and no we did not take pink pop into the dress shops! lol Even we forsaw the accidents that could happen!)

So that if you get stuck, you wont be for long. Also they are so easy to use, with the end result looking like it came from your printer and not a stamp. Amazing products ladies!!}

It was incredible, having this time with my best friend and her mom. I love them both so dearly and wanted to cry when my friend stepped out in "The Dress". It just brought back sooo many memories of how many times we talked over coffee about one day getting married...and this was it!!! It just goes to show, "There is beauty, in the everyday moments!"

I forgot to tell you that I finally have a cuttlebug!!! I have been collecting folders till I got one, and recieved one for Christmas from the LSS I work at. Thank you!!

Having the cuttlebug has allowed me to make incredible embellishments and flowers of my own! Like this layered flower using the Spellbinders Sunflower 2 Set. Love it!! :)
I am working on my Maui Album little by little. I am loving the acrylic 12x12 sheets and the feeling I get of water from seeing through them to the second page. My hope is to continue with the chic look I have going, and to encorporate some of my favorite memories (ie:music while on the island).

This is the class I finished teaching tonight.
A chipboard word album, packed full of techniques!
From using Spellbinders Dies to the Cropodil e, and more.
We made our own patterned papers and epoxy embellishments!
We added a dash of glitter here and there, and some ribbon on every page.
We made peek-a-Boo journal spots for our photos with Tulle...
Made tabs with the scalloped oval dies from Spellbinders...
Stamped with Stazon inks on plastic, and paper (for watercoloring).
The album can be enlarged later with chipboard pages or paper ones between a chipboard back cover. The stickers we used by 7 Gypsies were fabulous and fun!

My resolution is to try and not abandon my blog ever again!! I can blame it on the fact that my room is a disaster (an unpleasant mix of unpacking after moving, laundry and Scrapwork-scrapbooking for work), my second home is Scrapbookers Paradise, and that I am determined to send in work for contests (for the first time)....but I wont! I love all those things! Whether its giving my boss Kim a hard time or racking my brain for the next inspiration, every minute is enjoyable. Believe it or not, so is my blog! I consider this another way for me to teach more people (and I LOVE teaching). So be prepared for the wonderfull times were going to have together. Scrapbooking when there are piles of laundry, reading blogs and Canadian Scrapbooke r when there are sinks full of dishes, and playing with our new products when there is a perfectly warm bed waiting! Perhaps your resolution this year, will be to scrapbook about yourself! Next blog I will show you the steps to create a wonderfullayout...all for you!

Neat New Technique

So this past weekend I was at a WOW crop, and while having an awesome time...created a new technique!
Water coloring with Dew Drop' Versa Magic stamp pads. The result is fantastic and I have to say, they are a great new way of water coloring. Especially their Brilliance pads, for that little bit of sparkle to your work.
I will be teaching how to do this technique in a card class at our LSS in Red Deer sometime after the new class launch. Our new class launch is on Saturday, January 16 2009.

Wow, this is my very first blog spot and I am simply overjoyed that I have this opportunity to share with you my hopes, dreams, and most of all my SCRAPBOOKING! Internet is a wonderful blessing, that we can share with one another our creative juices and learn from others experiences. So I cant wait to post some of my work and share my passion.....scrapbooking.
